This private studio suite occupies its own wing of a meticulously restored 1933 Spanish Hacienda Revival home, where terra cotta tile and banana palms frame the classic stucco exterior. The suite has a separate entrance and no interior connection to the main residence. Parking for one car is included in the driveway, and a shared walkway leads to your entrance, a custom-built single French door fitted with vintage hardware from Liz`s Antique Hardware and a smart lock.
Inside, the suite reflects the care put into the home`s restoration. Original period molding, hardwood floors, and custom inswing French casement windows are true to the 1933 character, while everything you interact with daily has been updated. Screened windows open for fresh air, and white linen curtains with blackout blinds give you full control over light and privacy. Lush banana palms sit just outside the glass. The room also features original art by David Hockney and Colby Bird, along with a collection of artistic books.
The full size bed features a Saatva organic mattress with all-organic linens. Across from the bed, a generous closet with built-in shelving provides real storage for a longer stay. A dedicated desk with a vintage Kimball mid-century office chair makes the suite genuinely workable for remote work.
There is no full kitchen. In its place, a refreshment station with matching black retro-style appliances includes a mini fridge with freezer, microwave, electric kettle, and a Nespresso machine with milk frother. Coffee and tea are provided, along with filtered drinking water via a water filter pitcher in the fridge. The ensuite bathroom has a walk-in shower, dedicated storage, and shampoo and conditioner provided. A first aid kit and fire extinguisher are also on hand in the suite.
A mini split system with an in-room remote gives you independent control of heating and cooling. The one wall shared with the main residence has been professionally soundproofed with mass loaded vinyl, and the suite has a calm, quiet, retreat-like feel despite the central location.
Just outside your door, a small private patio bordered by planters of creeping fig offers a place to sit with coffee in the morning. The walkway between the gated entry and your entrance is shared with the main residence, similar to a boutique hotel, and the main house is occupied by a long-term resident. Pan Pacific Park and Alfred Coffee are two blocks away, The Grove and the Original Farmers Market are three blocks, and Erewhon is about a half mile for groceries. LACMA, the Academy Museum, and Miracle Mile are minutes south, and Melrose and Beverly Boulevard dining is close by. The street itself is quiet and residential, lined with historic homes.
Most people choose to have a car when visiting Southern California. There are an abundant amount of unique and significant attractions within two hours of this home. If you are an explorer, we recommend a car. That said, this is one of the more walkable areas in LA, with The Grove, Pan Pacific Park, coffee, and groceries all within a few blocks. Uber and Lyft are readily available as well.
